best free website hit counter

welcome, make yourself at home! i'm paula, the webmaster of this little space you're in. it doesn't look like much at the moment...
and maybe it won't for a good while. as i'm writing this, i've done my best to keep css elements minimal, if any at all. the reason being
that i'd like to stay true to the "old web" aesthetic—ok who am i kidding. i actually have no clue how css works. believe me, i've tried!

in fact, this is my third attempt at trying to create a website. the previous two involved some heavy css and leaned more into the maximal,
heavily-decorated, cutesy clutter-y aesthetic that i adore to bits. however, the clutter... my poor code was not spared from it !!! i
had no clue what was happening and just hoped that my spaghetti code mashed together from different sources would hold up. to be fair,
it did! but looking at it makes me feel incredibly intimidated, no matter how proud i am of how it looked. i knew the mess would cause me
problems in the long run.

basically, both of those "test" websites were more style than substance. in fact, i'd argue that it was ALL style, no substance! i had no
goal in mind apart from "make pretty website". this time though, i want to try and turn the tables here. challenge myself to actually DO
something with a blank page and then add all the frills later on.

well honestly, that's about it! i hope you enjoy your stay here. for now, it's just a collection of stuff written in spare time (i made my
first ever mini essay today too!). let's both figure it out along the way, okay? hooray!
